I am co-faculty adviser for the Black Internationalists organization, where I work alongside Dr. Tiffany Willoughby-Herard of African American Studies. This program was awarded a UC Education Abroad Program Underrepresented Students Outreach Initiative Grant in 2015. Since that time, we have organized multiple meetings per quarter. We provide Black students with material support and guidance to help them take advantage of study abroad opportunities. We also provide space for Black student returnees to share reflections from their experiences abroad, as well as the insights that informed their understanding of their Blackness from a global perspective.
